In the legal field, imprisonment occurs if a person is found guilty on the basis of criminal laws. Under criminal law, it is not necessary that a person will face imprisonment only if he commits murder. If he commits other crimes like motoring offence, violent offence, theft, fraud and many more, he may face imprisonment as well.

Factors to remember if you are sentenced to imprisonment:-

If a person is being sentenced to imprisonment for a certain period of time, he first needs to keep himself cool. No matter how innocent he is, police won’t believe unless and until they get hold of proper proof to prove his innocence. Apart from this, various other important factors are there that he needs to remember.

Some of them are as follows:-

  • Being an accused when you are taken into custody of police, don’t try to prove your innocence to the police. They will believe only when you can provide valid proof to prove your innocence. It is not his duty to decide whether you are guilty or not. It is the duty of the jury to judge you. So in such situation, its better to follow what the police ask you to do.
  • It is better not to open your mouth in front of the police as the case may turn against you.
  • To prove your innocence, always exercise your right to appoint criminal solicitor who will represent you in the court.
  • Share all your detail and whatever information you have related to the case to your solicitor. This will help him to represent your case strategically in front of the judge.

Appointing a lawyer maximizes your chance of winning the case.
